In Today’s time, the word is getting so common, “Depression”. Broke up with someone? Divorced? Someone close to you died? Bankrupt? , Okay these are still big events, what about the regular one’s? Fought with your partner? Parents not understanding? Failed in a test? Boss giving hard time? Peer pressure? Not listening to your own self? Getting bullied? May be feeling low for no reason? Or nothing in your world is going right around you.
All these above “Phases of Life” are just so easily termed as “Depression” by someone known OR some doctors OR by our own self. It is very important for all of us to first know the difference between “Depression” & “Phase of Life”.
Before explaining, please ask yourself few questions given below:-
Do you feel your life is Crapped up?
Do you feel Bad about the downs you’re facing?
Do you listen to Sad music (or Any)?
Do you feel like Hitting someone when they Speak?
Do you Cry all day?
Do you feel like GIVING UP on LIFE?
Do you feel Hungry?
Did you Click on the Subject “Depression” because you felt it’s relevant to you?
Do you feel Ten Times more Sensitive than ever?
Do you feel like pooping?
Do you feel like sleeping a lot and staying out of contact?
And any other negative emotions that keeps on coming on your mind? If your answer is yes to any of the above questions, I really mean (Any 1) or may be all of them, than I really have good news for you. You are not in depression.
Depression is a stage where you just stop feeling anything, any emotion. It is a paralyzed state of mind. And a paralyzed state does not feel anything. In such stages you need medication to rewire your brain to feel something. People claim that feeling low or upset is a stage of depression. Then I believe that we all are in the same bowl, each and every one of us. Because No one is always happy or in high energies, Not even Beyonce or Monks.
In Depression you don’t feel bad, you don’t feel good, you don’t even get one thought of “there’s something wrong with me” Or I want to end up my life because things are going so wrong. These ideas that you get either to end up life or sleep till the bad time is over or speaking about it to your bff is a clear sign that you want to get this crap over. Either by ending or by starting something new. At least you have the awareness that you deeply want this to end, this is what you want.
If you are going through lows in life or any of the feelings written above, then it is just a phase of life. “Phase of life” is when you can heal yourself or by anyone’s help by just exchanging some energy. You will feel the hurt or destructive feeling for a while but hey! it will pass by, nothing is constant! If you can’t see light, doesn’t mean its not there for you, if you want it soon you will have to work for it Or just wait for it.
If you are going through or know anyone who is going through this situation, let them know, that they are completely okay! This is not depression, everyone has phases. In such situations I would suggest people to first meet Psychotherapists or Counselors rather than a Psychiatrist. It is proved that victims feeling low for some reason or no reason at all just need some extra care love and right motivating advices. Do not be criticizing to them, even if you know that they are wrong.
Chances are more that they might want to be alone, but with constant understanding and motivation they will get out of their “Phase of life” sooner.
